• Δ(gpt-lac)5-- is the deletion Δ( pro-lac)_X111 of Jacob and originated in the strain Hfr 3000 X111.
• OS & AS = ochre & amber suppressor
• = ampicillin resistance
• UGA = opal(UGA) mutation
