Strain Comments:

• For selection in transductions, use apramycin at a final concentration of no more than 30ug/ml in LB agar
• Δ(ylcH-ylcG)803(::apra)-- The deletion/insertion joints are as follows with chromosomal sequence in uppercase and apramycin cassette in lowercase: ATAATTATG/tcatgtgca..........tctgggcgg/CGTTTCCCC.
• Δ(ylcH-ylcG)803(::apra)-- This deletion removes much of the DLP12 prophage from ylcH to ylcG including the rusA gene.
• rph-1-- is a 1 bp deletion that results in frameshift over last 15 codons and has polar effect on pyrE leading to suboptimal pyrimidine levels on minimal medium.(Jensen 1993 JBact.175:3401)
• apra = Apramycin resistant
