Strain Comments:

• We have not been able to trace the exact derivation of this strain. From what is known, it might be expected to carry a tsx marker and a tyrT marker, also.
• ileS1-- is an allele which results in a 300-fold higher apparent Km for Ile and can grow only when isoleucine is overproduced or added to the medium (and a 4-fold derepression of Ile synthesis enzymes).
